'This creative, sophisticated book is a poignant love song to the attempt to treat madness differently—to the great ambition of Collomb’s hospital in Dakar, and the loss of its initial vision. It reminds us how hard the task is and how much work there is to do.' ––T. M. Luhrmann, author, Of Two Minds 'Katie Kilroy-Marac has written a splendidly original and thoroughly researched study of a famous psychiatric clinic in Senegal. The book is an important contribution to the study of the encounter between Western psychiatry and the Global South, and deserves to obtain a wide readership.' –– Andrew Scull, author of Madness in Civilization: A Cultural History of Insanity, from the Bible to Freud, from the Madhouse to Modern Medicine
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! USS S. P. Lee was laid down on 27 June 1966 by the Defoe Shipbuilding Co., Bay City, Michigan, launched on 19 October 1967, sponsored by Mrs. David Scull, great granddaughter of Admiral Lee, and was delivered to the Navy on 2 December 1968. Although she had originally been intended to operate under the Oceanographer of the Navy, on 10 September 1968, S. P. Lee was placed under sponsorship of the Naval Underwater Research and Development Center, San Diego, California. Commanded by Capt. Paul L. Sinski, Master, the ship sailed to the Mediterranean and operated out of Naples conducting environmental acoustics tests for the 6th Fleet. For the next four years, but for a period in ready reserve status (7 April to 14 August 1972), she continued to conduct hydro-graphic operations for the Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific. On 25 September 1970, the ship was reclassified AG-192. S. P. Lee was placed back in ready reserve status on 29 January 1973, and transferred to the United States Geological Survey on 27 February 1974.
Tommy Connolly has a lot to figure out: what caused the bullet holes in his back and scull; where was he before they put him in that empty barracks; why they ordered him to be packed in a small plane and flown to Aruba; and who was the siren who cared for him after he awoke in that hospital. Above all, who are 'they' exactly? To get some answers, Tommy will have to play high-stakes games among nefarious characters in Panama, Aruba, Bermuda and Cali, Colombia. He will have to make nice with corrupt Colombian intelligence officers, befriend crooked bankers and dried-out CIA pilots for-hire, and even turn a blind eye to hideous crimes against innocent Columbians. To live another day, he will have to lead the sort of top-secret operations that CIA regulars wouldn't touch. Some of the things he learns will gratify him, while others will mortify him. He'll face certain death, but his success will make him a rich gringo. Your Enemies Do Know You Best is a story about the thin line between friends and enemies, the sort of knowledge that brings you peace, and the knowledge that can drive you mad. If you manage to live that long.
